My Mother, Katy Russell, lost her life to Alzheimer's in 2016 after a courageous 8 year battle. We honor my mother's legacy daily but feel especially grateful to celebrate her life during the Walk to End Alzheimer's.
Thank you for supporting our team and the walk!
More about my mom:
She grew up in Devon, PA and lived there until she graduated with high honors from Ohio University’s College of Education. It was at OU that Katy met Bob Russell and the two married in 1974. Bob and Katy initially lived in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, and then in 1983 moved to Madison, CT, the beautiful seaside town that Katy so loved, to raise their boys Rob, Matt, Kevin, and several bulldogs. She taught at Devon Elementary School, Evergreen Elementary School, and The Country School during her many years in elementary education. Katy’s three sons all showed a love for sports at a young age and participated in Madison youth sports, which eventually led to her leadership role as the volunteer Director of Madison Youth Lacrosse. Katy famously coined the mantra “Have Fun, Play Lacrosse” that characterized her many happy hours on and off the lacrosse field and has permeated MYL ever since. Other charitable work included the Ronald McDonald House of New Haven, Junior League of New Haven, and membership on the Board of Governors at Fairfield College Preparatory School.
