During this ongoing pandemic, we may have forgotten about Alzheimer's. But Alz has not forgotten about us. The number of Alz deaths has increased 16%! One in three senior citizens dies from Alzheimer's. Six million live with the disease. The numbers are shocking, but I want to focus on the people.
My dad Arnie died of Alz in 2015 and when he did, I thought that would be the end of Alz in the family. Not so. My brother-in-law Doug was diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment this year. Alzheimer's is awful, and it carries on.
There is not yet a cure, nor is there an effective treatment. Incremental progress has been made, but Alzheimer's is a complex and tricky bugger. We could give up, but hope and a cure are out there!
The Walk to End Alzheimer's is the Alzheimer's Association's largest fund raiser. Proceeds are used for research, to support caregivers, to educate everyone about the disease, how to get a diagnosis, and how to get help.
I'll walk virtually to raise Alzheimer's research and caregiver funds. You can donate here. Let’s END ALZHEIMER’S!
Join me to reclaim the future for millions by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®.
Thank you for helping advance Alzheimer's support, care and research.
