For those of you who don't know my story.. I took care of my grandpa who had Alzheimer's for the last 2 years of his life. He had a stroke soon after I moved in to take care of him and he had to learn how to walk, talk, eat, swallow, write, etc. all over again. He was the STRONGEST man I knew.. having Alzheimer's plus the increased struggle of learning everything over again, he was still able to do it! Seeing his eyes and the pain he had when he couldn't remember what was going on, he was completely in another world and it was the HARDEST thing to watch. By far the most gut wrenching experience of my life watching my grandpa (who was like a father figure to me) look at me and couldn't remember who I was plus thousands of memories I will never be able to shake. My goal is for no other person to have that same feeling of hopelessness as they watch their loved ones decay mentally.
Alzheimer’s isn’t stopping and neither are we. By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s®, I’m raising funds and awareness to advance the fight against this disease — funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association® to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research.
Families facing Alzheimer’s and all other dementia need us now more than ever — and with your help, we can be there for them. Please make a donation or register as a participant and start your own fundraising. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease.
Thank you for helping advance Alzheimer's support, care and research.
