Caring for my mom with Alzheimer's is one of the hardest things I have done. She was afraid and angry; She didn't know where she was or who was with her. Watching her decline was heartbreaking.
It would have been easy to stick her in a facility and walk away, but I couldn't do that, She had cared for me and now it was my turn to care for her, whether she liked it or not.
The Alzheimer's Assoc. taught me how to attempt to keep her calm. My faith gave me the strength to keep going back every week. My angels, Natasha and Patsy allowed me to keep her home where she wanted to be. They loved and care for her even when she was mean and nasty to them, and that was often.
There were many days I didn't know how I would pay the bills or face her wrath, but God promised He would provide, and He did. Each month there was always enough.
I carried my phone with me everywhere, just in case. Waiting for "the" call. When "the" call came, it as a mixture of sorrow and relief. I know she is now whole again, and without the pain and frustration she fought for 15 years.
God is still in control, He is still watching over His sparrow and us.
