PRE-WALK BOWLER'S CHALLENGE RESULTS
In the words of Daedalus, “don’t fly too close to the sun, son.”
It was sweeper night… electricity and the smell of talcum powder wafted through the air. The night was made doubly exciting with the announcement that masks were no longer required. Finally… we weren’t forced to drink beer in order to breathe. I decided to bowl a quick practice game to loosen the joints. I was focused and ready to roll! I opened with a 247 and felt as if I was well on the way to my goal. As fate would have it, I threw a shoe (pulled a hammy) in the 4th frame of the 2nd game. Despite this setback, I managed to limp along and bowled a 248; giving me a score of 495 going into the 3rd game. This, of course, made a 700 plus series a forgone conclusion and I was SURE I could bowl a 750. However, as the pins got heavier and my John Wayne impression improved with every frame, this goal slowly slipped from my grip. I fell short… bowling a 198 to give me a 693 series. As promised, I donated $35 plus my sweeper money, rounding it to $110. Thanks to all of you who accepted the challenge.
