I first learned of Alzheimer’s and Dementia at an early age when my Grandmother "Nanny" moved in with us because of her memory problems. Back then, being so young, I had no idea how to respond to that condition. I just saw my Nan as forgetful and my compassion and tolerance was not the best. The guilt I feel for that will forever lay heavy on my heart. Nanny sadly passed away when I was 16.
As I've grown older, going through that situation with my Nan and some more other recent experiences, I've felt like I've wanted to do more for those suffering with this condition. I spend a lot of time volunteering for Old Friends Club, a memory care Center for those with Alzheimer’s and Dementia. And now I am so happy to be taking part in The Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
This walk would mean so much to me not only to help raise money into more research, but also to help spread awareness about this disease and how we can offer care and support. Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
