For over 30 years my family has faced a lifetime of battling dementia and Alzheimer's Disease. In 1997 my Grandmother, Rita Schroeder Bross, lost her battle with depression and dementia. She was an amazing woman who always dressed to impressand showered her family with love. Her sister, Antoinette Peters, had begun showing the signs of dementia before she passed away in 1995 and her daughter, Susan Schroeder, faced the same disease when she passed away in 2015. Antoinette was one of the first female CPAs in Cincinnati, OH and Susan a concert pianist. In 2016 my mother, Nancy was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and today she faces the same fate as her mother. With our Mother's diagnosis we found the Alzheimer's Association and all of the support that they provide. They have provided light on some of our darkest days. When I Walk, for my family and other families that the Next Generations do not have to face the same devastating outcome and that they can have access to the same resources that we have.
Thank you for helping us advance Alzheimer's support, care and research!
