For the past two years, I have placed a picture of my wonderful mom, Grace McAdam, on this site in honor of her diagnosis and fight against the Alzheimer's Disease and her eventual passing in 2016. As I write this, I've now experienced the recent loss of my father-in-law, Ron Bange, who also dealt with this horrible disease. Ron was a kind and humble man who was always proud of his family and took the time to acknowledge all of the good things in each of us. He was a nature lover and pointed out the beauty in daily things that I often didn't take time to notice -- plants, birds, animals, the stars. The world was better with him in it.
Both Grace and Ron lived with Alzheimer's for many years. The progression was slow yet undeniable. They both dealt with it as best they could with support and love from family. But I don't want to experience another family member having this disease. I'm doing what I can by creating awareness and raising funds for brilliant minds to FIND A CURE for Alzheimer's. Think of the diseases we have been able to eradicate over the years and the advances in modern medicine. Surely there is a cure on the horizon--we need to place focus on this cause!
