I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®. I have an extensive family history of Early On-Set Alzheimer's Disease. This disease has currently taken several members of my family at an early age. Including my grandmother, mother, 3 sisters. At an early age as early as 38 years old. In November 2014 I had the courage to take the genetic test with support from my family and a dear friend Mary Salter who was there for me during the longest 4 weeks of my life. I received the results in December 2014 which was negative. I do not have to worry about myself or my children inheriting this terrible disease. I am going to help fight for my nieces, nephews that could be positively impacted by this disease. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
