I walk for several reasons.
1. Family affected by the disease. Shirley Cockrell my grandmother & Sharlene Applegate her sister. My husband's grandparents.
2. All of the residents and family members that I have had the honor of helping, comforting and caring for over these last 10 years and I hope for many years to come. (Until I'm no longer needed because this disease is no longer an issue)
3. Friends who have been affected by the disease. They have a loved one who has suffered or is suffering from Alzheimer's or dementia.
I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
