I'm raising funds this year to help reclaim the future for millions and in memory of my own grandma, Doris, who lived with dementia. Dementia is ugly and slowly took my feisty, independent Granny away from us. I hate this disease and I am passionate and committed to raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer research, care and support. Burgundy raised over $27,000 last year, and although the pandemic has cancelled many or our normal fundraising events and slowed our campaign we are still working toward a goal of $15,000.
The stats are so scary. 1 in 3 Seniors dies with Alzheimer's or dementia. Alzheimer's is the most expensive disease in the country, surpassing cancer. It is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States. By 2050, there could be as many as 16 million people living with Alzheimer's. In 2020, Alzheimer's and other dementias cost the nation $305 billion; by 2050 these costs could rise as high as $1.1 trillion. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
I need your support to do my part! Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research into prevention, treatments and a cure for Alzheimer's. Please help me reach my goal of $3,000. You can click the link to donate or if you prefer to mail in a donation you can click for that information too! You can also join our team and walk in your neighborhood to raise awareness for our cause and help find the first survivor! Thank you so much!
