I am joining Abbey's team this year in the walk to end Alzheimer. I am walking to honor the memory of my sister, Margretta. And, her caregiver and husband, Tom.
Alzheimer disease is something you can not grasp if you have not dealt with it first hand. It steals your loved ones away, while leaving their suffering she'll behind.
My sister was a quick witted, firey, God fearing woman. I think the hardest thing I have ever witnessed was her losing her ability to speak.
This disease is something you dont want to endure for yourself or your loved ones. Donating will help with finding a cure. It will help with the people who are faced with the hard job of caregiver. Also, it helps with education and resources for all touched by this disease.
Do you realize that Alzheimer disease is an actual death sentence for 100% of people diagnosed? You dont just forget things and become absent minded. You get to a point of not being able to speak, walk, feed yourself. But, most people dont realize that your brain forgets how to send the the proper signals to the body for hydration or vitamin absorption. You can drink water, yet dehydrate. Eat, yet become malnourished.
We need to stop this disease. Believe me, you dont want your family to go through this. Or, your family to WATCH YOU go through this.
Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer's!
