On Saturday, Oct. 3, we walk Sign up today to receive your Promise Garden and Walk to EndAlz flags in the mail to plant in your yard or on your street to raise awareness, then carry your flags when you walk. Raise $100 to get your t-shirt in the mail as well -- or better yet, raise $500, $1,000-plus to become a Champion's Club member and earn even more great perks as we ENDALZ, now and forever!!
On that day we will honor our wonderful Steve Kollstedt, who went to Heaven on May 8, 2014, after courageously battling young-onset Alzheimer's disease for more than 15 years -- and our exquisite Lynn Martin, Steve's beautiful niece, who joined him in Heaven on June 12, 2015, after an heroic fight to overcome a very aggressive form of cancer. And unfortunately this year, we add our wonderful Bob Barry, Lynn's Dad and Steve's brother-in-law, as a person we are honoring. Bob lost his battle with frontal-temporal dementia in March.
Lynnie was always at the Walk, passionately supporting her uncle -- and when we lost Lynn, it became our great privilege to honor her along with Steve in our fight for a world without Alzheimer's. Bob, an engineer, Air Force navigator and generous volunteer, was always at the Walk as well, helping any way needed.
By participating in the 2020 Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's™, we're committed to raising awareness and funds for dementia research, care and support.
Currently, 5.8 million Americans have Alzheimer's -- the most expensive and feared disease in the nation. Each of our futures is at risk for this disease that affects more people than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined. We must act now to stop the devastation.
Please join Steve, Lynn and Bob's Troops in the battle to find our first survivor! Make a donation and spread the word through e-mail, social media and personally ask others to walk, donate and help end the 6th leading killer in the U.S., the only disease among the top 10 that has no cure or even a way to slow its progress.
Your commitment will help the Alzheimer's Association advance research in prevention, treatments and a cure for Alzheimer's and all dementias. For the millions already affected by the disease and their caregivers, the Association offers care, education, support and resources in our community and nationwide.
Thank you for joining our movement! The end of Alzheimer's starts with us.
