Alzheimer’s disease is relentless. SO ARE WE.

Our beloved Joan took on many incredible roles. She was a Wife, Mother, Sister, Grandmother (Grandma, Meema & Beema) Aunt, Foster Mother and Nanny.

Joan raised 2 strong Sons, and helped raise 3 Grandchildren, as well as her step-grandchildren, many foster children, the kids she babysat and even the neighborhood children. She treated them all as if they were her own. We were all spoiled, but not just with gifts and candy. It was the overwhelming amount of love that made us richer than anyone we knew. Sometimes I fear we will never know a love like that again.

Joan cared for any animal that crossed her path, even if the animal wasn't hers. She took in cats, lizards, fish, hamsters and of course dogs. She would make sure to feed any stray in need, and would have her grandchildren and the neighboring kids load birdseed into her many feeders. No animal went hungry.

Joan loved to garden. Her yard was always filled with Black-eyed Susan, Rose of Sharon, Hydrangeas and Daffodils, but she found most pride in her Rose Bushes. On any warm day, you could walk by her home and see her, even in her elder years, playing in the soil. It was her absolute favorite.

Joan had a house so clean you could eat off of the floor. And that isn't just an expression in this case...her home was spotless. Whenever you would enter the warmth of her home, you could smell something cooking or baking. Her meals were the best. Some family favorites include her famous chili, pineapple upside down cake, stuffed peppers, fruited jello, carrot cake, goulash and ambrosia salad - just to name a few. These dishes will be missed eternally and can never be duplicated.

Joan passed away on May 18, 2019 peacefully in her bed. Although she lived 85 years and a life full of love and laughter, losing the matriarch of our family can make the moments of grief seem relentless. In the times when she was lucid, she would always ask the family to remain close and look out for one another. Because of this, we decided to raise money to help find a cure for the disease we hate most.

We ask that you donate toward this beautiful cause. Any donation will do. We just want to honor our favorite person in a way that benefits those still fighting.

From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you!
