My mom, Dee, was diagnosed early on at age 54 with Alzheimer's. To say that it through my family into upheaval would not begin to describe it. Mom was a loving mom to 3 grown kid, and had 2 grandkids, plus several grand dogs. Because of her early onset, she didn't get to know her grandkids that well, and they missed out on having a terrific grandmother. Mom devoted her life to Catholic Church, Education, and her family. She taught for over 30 years before retirement, mainly due to early onset. She loved to read, play bridge, watch Jeopardy, and Wheel of Fortune!
Mom endured a long battle with Alzheimers as she slowly lost her memories, her ability to speak, write, move, and eventually breath. It was hard on us, watching her go through this and not be able to do one darn thing about it. Mom is my inspiration for starting this team in her memory!
