WALK TO END ALZHEIMER’S
2020 - Virtual Walk
The Purpose: Walk to End Alzheimer's unites the entire community — more than 450,000 participants that include family, friends, co-workers, social and religious groups and more --- in a display of combined strength and dedication in the fight against this devastating disease. While there is no fee to register, each participant is expected to fundraise in order to contribute to the cause and raise awareness. The Alzheimer's Association provides free, easy-to-use tools and staff support to help each participant reach their fundraising goal.
When you participate in Walk, your fundraising dollars fuel our mission-related initiatives of care, support and research. In addition, your actions, both through fundraising and participating in the event, help to change the level of Alzheimer's awareness in your community. Take the first step to a world without Alzheimer's by finding a Walk near you. Once you register, you will have access to a wide range of tools and support through your Participant Center, ensuring a successful and fulfilling experience.
To eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
A world without Alzheimer's disease and all other dementia.
Your Team Captain's Story:
This walk is for all of our loved ones out there who face Alzheimer's and dementia every day. This walk is for the caregivers, for the families, and for the friends who together do battle...we are Walking to End Alzheimer’s! Let it be soon!
I'm Robin Perini, your captain, and I'm walking to help reclaim the future for millions, but more than that, I'm walking in honor of my mother, Karen Perini, who is currently battling Alzheimer's, and in honor of my father, Dale Perini whose love and care for her never ceases to humble me. I'm walking in sincere thanks for those who support our family and stand by us while we take this long, difficult, slow journey with my mother.
Mom was always there for our family, always in our corner, and she would never hesitate to drop everything for her family or her friends. So, now, it's our turn to emulate her, to be what she would be if the situation were reversed.
This is for you, Mom. I carry you in my heart. As do all those whose lives you touched. This if for you, Dad. Because watching you care for Mom--your dedication, devotion, loyalty and unwavering love, remind me that vows mean something and that honor does exist. You are my hero. This is for my brother--who, while he and his family live far away from us--would be here on the next plane if we needed him. That kind of unqualified certainty is a truth that cannot be underestimated. He is our rock.
I'm the luckiest girl in the world to have the family that I do. I am blessed every day because of them.
