In just one year, the number of New Mexicans living with Alzheimer’s disease has risen from 39,000 to 41,000. That figure is projected to rise to 53,000 by 2025. The number of unpaid family caregivers – typically family members –who are taking care of these people has risen from 107,000 to 108,000.
I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's(R). Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. And together, we can show those facing Alzheimer's and dementia in our community that they are not alone.
