This year my grandmother passed away from Alzheimer's. She was diagnosed with it years ago, and had been suffering with it until just recently. She was a strong, independent and remarkable woman, who taught me so much in life. She taught me how to sew, how to bake the best apple pie, and how to love unconditionally.
This year, I decided I am going to Walk to End Alzheimer's, to honor my grandmother and the courageous battle she had to go through.
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
