Whereas my grandmother Budgie rode her horse to school out of necessity rather than choice, we both shared the passion for these majestic creatures. Other shared passions included farm life, swinging on the front piazza watching hummingbirds, fishing at the pond, beautiful flowers and writing short stories/poetry. Sadly, dementia took a hold of Budgie and we lost her mind and spirit long before her body finally succumbed to this debilitating disease. More recently, our close friend Larry Vickrey's father, Raymond, passed away this September from Alzheimer's disease. This year, my horse Oskar and I are walking in memory of Budgie, Raymond, and in honor of all those in the equestrian world who have lost or living with those who been impacted by Alzheimer's disease or other form of dementia. Act now and join our team Sandra's Girls to raise funds and awareness about Alzheimer's. Or, you can form your own team. Walk is everywhere this season and your walking options are endless. Walk with your family, your friends, your horse, your dog - walk in your neighborhood, along the trails, in a park - wherever there is a safe environment in which you feel most comfortable. Alzheimer's never stops and never do we. Join us by supporting our mission of a world without Alzheimer's and all other dementia.
Thank you for helping us advance Alzheimer's support, care and research!
