As many of you know, my mom has Alzheimer's. It has robbed her of so much. Those of you who have a loved one with the disease know how cruel it can be.
Mom means the world to me. She is loving, selfless, and has a genuinely beautiful soul. She has brought immeasurable joy to me, my sisters, our families and my dad, plus hundreds and hundreds of kids. Mom worked before it was the norm - as a kindergarten teacher for 30 years in the same classroom. She taught the kids, and then taught their kids! I can't count the number of times growing up when we were stopped and told a story about how my mom transformed someone's life. She is my rock, my inspiration, my friend.
This November 2nd, I will walk to raise money for the Alzheimer's Association in honor of my precious mom. I'll do this in Wilmington, North Carolina where my parents now live. I am lucky to have them here to tell mom stories, try to make her laugh, and wrap her in a warm embrace so she knows she is loved deeply by so many.
Please consider walking with me or donating.
Together we can advance the care, support, and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. And together, we can Embrace Eileen.
With gratitude, Diane
