I'm walking because of an incredible friend, Maria who is pictured with me and her grandson, Ezra. This picture was taken in 2012. Her life had been impacted in a big way by having Pick's Disease - a form of Alzheimer's /dementia. When that picture was taken, she could walk, talk from time to time (matter of fact, on that day, she came into our house and the first words out of her mouth to me were "I broke my tooth" I looked in her mouth & sure enough, her tooth was chipped), she helped me a lot with doing stuff around the house like folding laundry, she smiled a lot, and she loved holding Ezra. Maria has passed away; but I cherish the memories we have of her. Maria, her daughters , and Ezra have touched our lives in a very special way. We celebrated and cherished each smile, giggle, hug, and once in a while a word or two that she said and continue to pray for a cure to this some day so others don't have to go through this horrible disease. By participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®, I'm committed to raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s research, care and support - not only for Maria, but for her daughters, Marlene & Melissa & for her grandson, Ezra. We love them all so much and if we can help make steps so that another family doesn't have to go through this, it is so worth every penny and any amount of time it takes to walk & raise funds & awareness.
I need your support to do my part! Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research into methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's. For the millions already affected by the disease, the Association offers care, education, support and resources in communities nationwide.
Thank you for joining the movement! The end of Alzheimer's disease starts with you.
Thank you for helping us advance Alzheimer's support, care and research!
