I am regularly asked why Alzheimer's advocacy is so important to me. I've spent much of my career working in healthcare marketing. This experience has provided a front row seat into the devastating impact that Alzheimer's Disease has on those stricken, as well as their caregivers and loved ones. That is unacceptable to me and I just can't let it go...
If you happen past a burning building, do you walk on by, or do you grab a bucket? Alzheimer's is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States. Five and a half million people in our country are living with the disease (1 out of every 8 people). Over two hundred thousand of them are under the age of 65! If a cure is not found, that number is expected to triple by 2050. This house is on fire! If we don't stop it we'll all soon realize (if we haven't already) that it's OUR HOUSE! The Alzheimer's Association is the Volunteer Fire Department, and they need our help!
Alzheimer's is the only cause of death among the top 10 in America without a way to prevent, cure or even slow its progression. What is certain is that when a cure IS found, the Alzheimer's Association will be playing a central role in its discovery. Until then, they are providing resources, support, and services to those who are stricken, their caregivers, and families. The funds raised through the Walk to End Alzheimer's directly support this research and the support services.
I'm once again asking for your support in defeating Alzheimers Disease in my lifetime. Please click on the link and donate!
