Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and my heart breaks for every one of those families because I have lived it. In 2006, the love of my life was diagnosed with this terrible disease. We had known something wasn't right for a few years before that, but that was the day that we knew he wasn't going to get better.
Of the top 10 causes of death in the US, Alzheimer's is the only one in which there is no prevention, cure or way to slow it. That is the reality we were facing then, and millions of families have faced since. By 2050 it is estimated that as many as 14 million Americans will be diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's. For those of you who knew my Bill, please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association to spare other families of what we had to face.
