As a granddaughter of one who suffers from Alzheimer's, I was inspired to join the fight against this tragic disease. I aim to raise awareness and spread the word about the Walk to End Alzheimer's. Alzheimer's has affected many families, including mine. Before my grandfather was diagnosed with Lewey Bodies dementia, I wasn't informed how this disease would affect us. I certainly didn't know that its the 6th leading cause of death in the United States. My grandfather, Mike Barrett, was diagnosed with Dementia a couple years back. Before this time he would never stop trying to make me smile and continuously does so.
My favorite memory of my "Papa" is when he tried to teach me algebra at the age of 5. I will never forget the car rides back from my house when we would make up story lines of the baby cow and papa cow. Seeing the baby cow and papa cow now, 10 years later, after the heartbreaking passing of my grandfather, l will never forget the papa and baby cow. Papas smile, thoughts, and of course stories will forever be with me.
My mission is to inform people about this heartbreaking disease before it gets to their family. Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease once and for all. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. Any donation is welcome and I hope to see you October 5th at the Walk to End Alzheimer's!
Thank you for helping us advance Alzheimer's support, care and research!
