A few short months ago, I said goodbye to my Dad for the last time. HIs voice had been silenced years ago, but not his eyes, and not his touch. I felt empty and so many memories came flooding to my mind...so many memories that I am thankful to be able to enjoy and cherish. My Dad had lost that simple privilege long ago - that privilege that we all take for granted. He loved learning, laughing, working hard, and was proud of each and every one of his children and their accomplishments. He was my hero - not perfect by any means- but I was proud to be his daughter. He always showed up when I needed him most, but I never figured out how he knew. And now, I will never know. Now, I show up for him. I continue to fight for him and I will fight until the cure is found.
