Alzheimer’s disease is relentless. The Eastern Kentucky University Dept. of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy has supported community based seniors with memory loss for over 20 years. Our program, The Place to Be, offers cognitive vitality, health and wellness, creative expression and socialization 2 days per week for 4 hours each week. We would not be able to provide the 1:1 care that is needed without the support of our students, who so generously provide their friendship for the opportunity for professional skill building. Each year we walk with our client friends and for the end of Alzheimer's disease. Look for us at the walk, proudly wearing our purple shirts emblazoned with Eastern Kentucky University / The Place to Be and Memory Cafe on the back. Join our team for the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®, the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. If you are unable to walk with us, please consider a generous donation to end this insidious disease that is the antithesis of learning.
