“We are excited to partner with the Alzheimer’s Association for this important event,” said Davena Vowels, Louisville City Vice President of Operations. “We always envisioned our new home as a perfect venue for soccer and we also hoped Lynn Family Stadium could become a showcase venue in Louisville. Being able to host the Walk to End Alzheimer’s is a perfect way to announce our first community event.”
In 2019, the Louisville Walk raised $325,000 contributing to more than $98 million raised nationwide for care, support and research efforts for those impacted by Alzheimer's.
“We are delighted to hold our 2020 Walk to End Alzheimer’s at Lynn Family Stadium,” said Roberta Steutermann, Development Director for the Alzheimer's Association of Greater Kentucky & Southern Indiana Chapter. “Like Louisville City, purple is a color near and dear to our hearts. We want to make our 2020 Walk our biggest event yet to help raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.”
The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s participants will learn more about Alzheimer's disease, advocacy opportunities, clinical studies enrollment and support programs and services. Walk participants also honor those affected by Alzheimer's disease with the poignant Promise Garden ceremony.
Lynn Family Stadium is the largest soccer-specific stadium in the region with seating locations for 11,600 fans. Home to Louisville City FC of the USL Championship, the stadium will host Louisville’s new NWSL team beginning in 2021. The stadium boasts 18 luxury suites, premium seating amenities like club and loge seats along with ledge tables, and a massive safe-standing supporter section. The venue, owned by Soccer Holdings, LLC, and managed by ASM Global, is available for concerts, festivals, and community events.
