Mental health is something most of us take for granted. Basic things: remembering you are who you are, how to carry on a normal conversation, that you love or hate margaritas, that you have people that love you, or that you have people you can trust. It’s one of the most heartbreaking ways that our loved ones can leave us— because they can’t be who they’ve always been. Pieces of them slip away slowly and you miss out on conversations you treasured so much with them before that.
In honor of all my friends and family who have felt this pain, I will walk this year.
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 14 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
