My papaw passed away with Alzheimer's Disease on June 6, 2019. I was his oldest granddaughter, and felt that I had a very special connection with him that words cannot describe. His disease did not define his personality. He was a long time Indianapolis 500 race fan, and a hero to our country.
The last time I saw my grandfather was the day of my high school graduation. In the moment, it truly felt like he remembered me. His last words for me were "it's going to be alright." I did not know at the time that this was the last time I would see him, and these words have changed my life forever.
I'm fundraising and walking to end Alzheimer's for people like my grandpa. So we can live in a world where you don't have to look into someone's eyes and pray that they remember who you are. Please support me by donating to my page. Memories are the timeless treasures of the heart.
Thank you for helping us advance Alzheimer's support, care and research!
