According to the Alzheimer’s Association, Alzheimer’s Disease is the most common form of dementia, and accounts for 60 to 80 percent of dementia cases and is not, in fact, considered a normal part of aging. It currently affects millions, including over 200,000 people under the age of 65 years old. The Fountains of Boca Ciega Bay has always been a strong advocate in finding a cure and participates yearly in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s hosted by the Alzheimer’s Association for over a decade now. Our team and community is strong and dedicated to creating successful fundraising efforts for the 2020 walk! Thank you in advance for your support and bringing us closer to a cure, as every $1 truly makes a valiant difference!
Last year's team story:
The Fountains of Boca Ciega Bay has always been a strong advocate in finding a cure and participates yearly in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s hosted by the Alzheimer’s Association for over a decade now. In 2019, our community went the extra mile. Not only with our own teams fundraising events and hosting our first casino night event, but our Directors, associates and residents joined forces with the Alzheimer's Association and became part of the 2019 Walk Planning Committee. Melissa Krysh, Community Life Director, took the volunteer position as Event Chair with Catoura East, Associate Executive Director, as the Co-Event Chair. Together, they worked with Resident, Dick Holmes as Mission Ambassador, Resident Relations Director Lisa Knipe as the Marketing Chair, Business Office Manager Takisha Butler as Sub-Committee Sponsorship, and the assisted living support team, Daphne Law and L.T. Green to help create a memorable walk with the Alzheimer's Association in St. Petersburg for 2019. Our community came together and raised over $10,300! We are so proud of not only of our community & their valiant efforts, including taking home a few “Grand Champions” medals, but of all our associates stepping into grand roles and playing a more valiant part in helping to end Alzheimer's. Of course, our community couldn't be successful without the most amazing residents that we are honored to call family!
