Dear Friends and Family,
My Dad, Cosie Muolo, Aunt Toni D'Eredita, Jennie Paone, John Skelly, Mrs. Tucci, Mrs. Angela Caposso, John Bowe, Guerino Federico, Irene Czerwinski, Mr. Ron Barnell, and most recently my dear Aunt, Betty Muolo Chillemi, passed away earlier this month, after a long battle with the disease. There are so many others who have been suffering with and those who have passed from Alzheimer's disease and related dementia over the years that I have supported this walk!
I started my involvement with the Alzheimer's Association of CNY before the first walk in 1992 and was on the Walk Committee for many years and was honored as the CNY Alzheimer's Association Volunteer of the Year. I organized many walks with my students and fellow teachers at Lincoln Middle School from 1994 - 2010, raising over $30,000 for the CNY Chapter. I even had the opportunity to ask David Muir, now ABC's Nightly News Anchor, to be our honorary chair person for one of our CNY Walks. David was working at our local CBS Affiliate which was a Partner for Business and Education with Lincoln Middle School. After retiring to Sarasota, I continued to support both walks.
I had surgery on November 5th on three Cervical Discs in my neck. I have been mending at home, wearing several collars to protect my neck. I am doing well. Because of the surgery, I forgot to send out requests for donations earlier for this cause that is special to me. I will go to the walk site and walk very soon! My participation is important to be involved.
