I have seen first-hand how dementia-related illnesses can change a person's life and the lives of those around them. You spend so many years making memories only to have them stolen away. Fortunately, dad and I had several years to make new memories. He had dementia but dementia never had us and I want to help others say the same.
The Alzheimer's network truly helped us through this challenge. They provided support through education, connection, and the caregiver support groups. This organization was truly a blessing to our lives.
I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and other dementia-related illnesses and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's and other dementia-related diseases. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
