My sweet dad has Alzheimer's. I cannot express how hard it is to grieve the gradual and slow loss of a loved one through a disease like this. It is incredibly sad to see someone you love, who has always been your hero, slowly lose control of their body and mind.
He is a Lifetime Achievement Emmy Award-winning Videographer and is revered by so many for the way he has touched their lives.
I have met SO MANY people who have loved ones affected by Alzheimer's or some other form of dementia. It is a complicated issue from grief, caretaking, mental stress, financial stress, etc. That doesn't include the emotions that my Dad is experiencing too! In an effort to help raise awareness and funds for care, support, and research, I am excited to partner with CrossFit Palm Bay in the annual Walk to End Alzheimer's.
If you feel led, I urge you to take a moment to make a donation. I will be participating in an event hosted by CrossFit Palm Bay on 9/26 to support this cause.
If you know anyone who may also be interested in donating, please share this post as well. The more we can do to fight this horrible disease, the better.
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 14 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer's!
