My grandmother was one of the most incredible people I have ever known. She was the first person that I have known to contract and ultimately have Alzheimer's take her life.
It was devastating to see someone who was always happy, there for others and completely independent to exhibit the various stages of this disease.
She started by confusing me with others, then not remembering me at all.
Eating all three meals at one time or not at all and the same for her meds.
The disease claimed her life over 30 years ago and I still believe there is much we still to know about this dreaded disease and it's potential impact on individuals , families and care givers.
