In 2005 Bev walked in her first Alzheimer’s Walk. It was @ UConn. A van from Dad’s Assisted Living brought a group there, so we walked together. Another year Dad walked with Bev at Bushnell Park in Hartford. Since then we’ve walked at several different locations. In 2011, our team, The Quiet Corner Crusaders was formed. This year we are again Walking to END Alzheimer’s at Ocean Beach Park in New London, CT on Sept. 14th. This walk location has the best views !!
We’re sure some of you wonder why we continue to do this Walk, especially after dealing with uterine cancer this past year. We cared for Bev’s grandmother, then Mom and Dad as they all slowly slipped away from the hideous effects of Alzheimer’s. Over the past 14 years leading ACOALO (Adult Caregivers Of Aging Loved Ones) we’ve gotten to know, work with and grieve with families struggling with the effect of Alzheimer’s on their loved ones . We are committed to stay the course in our efforts to raise funds to find a cure for Alzheimer’s Disease.
This year our Walk to End Alzheimer’s will be Saturday Sept 14th. Our personal goal this year is to raise $1,000. You may donate by following the instructions at the bottom of this email, or mailing/giving either of us a check made out to the Alzheimer’s Association, Connecticut Chapter. Be sure to check and see if your employer does matching gifts.
We will be turning donations in at the Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Sept. 14th. You may contribute online or by mail if you choose. Contributions may also be made after the Walk. Feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.
We believe that together, we all can make a difference!
Thanks for your time,
Bev and Bruce
