I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. It is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States and has no cure or treatment to stop progression.
Alzheimer's also takes a devastating toll on caregivers. Last year, 239,000 caregivers in Colorado provided 272 million hours of unpaid care to Alzheimer's and dementia patients valued at more than $3.3 billion.
Compared with caregivers of people without dementia, twice as many caregivers of those with dementia indicate substantial emotional, financial and physical difficulties. It is estimated that family caregivers spend more than $5,000 per year caring for someone with Alzheimer's.
The Alzheimer's Association provides much needed support and resources for caregivers. The Colorado Chapter is #5 in the nation for Support Group Contacts and #3 for Helpline contacts. Please make a donation today to support these key programs and all the Colorado Chapter does to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
