As we have collectively begun to emerge from COVID quarantine — grateful for recovery, while frustrated by the tolls of being a closed up America — I see evermore a significance in the mission in fighting Alzheimer’s Disease.
We know the numbers — Alzheimer’s still affects >5M Americans, ~2M caregivers, and has a disproportionately higher impact on women both in diagnosis and as caregivers. Now layer on all that has happened in 2020 to make situation incredibly dire - lack of resources in hospice and nursing homes/assisted living, and threats to cut elder care support.
Sadly, too, was the cancellation of all the 2020 fundraising events I hoped to champion and enjoy with you, including our first gala in Del Mar and The Longest Day where Mesa Rim was ready to support another exciting rock climb together.
I ask for your support – honor those living with Alzheimer’s and their courageous caregivers, join the Team, donate whatever amount suits you, and keep your fingers crossed that we will gather to put our flower petals in the air to spin together in hope and solidarity for a healthier future. #ENDALZ!
Those living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias need us more than ever.
