This year we are walking to honor and remember all the MOMS who have taught us so much about caring. My mom is always in my thoughts and the strength and determination instilled in her as a child growing up in London in WWII are constant reminders for me to face challenges head on and appreciate the kindness around us. This is my 6th Walk to End Alzheimer's and the most important one yet as we strive to provide essential support services to Northern Nevadans impacted not only by Alzheimer's disease, but also by all the complications of the Covid-19 pandemic. Imagine how bewildering life in the Covid era must be for someone already confused by daily life. Imagine how baffling it must be not to be able to receive a reassuring hug from a loved one. And imagine how bereft any of us would feel not to be able to say goodbye to the ones we love. Our team of staff and volunteers are here to help families with all of those challenges, and our services are available 24/7. Please join us in supporting all of those who are struggling with dementia and the family members caring for them. Stay safe, stay kind, and as Winston Churchill said “We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.” Thank you for giving.
