Team Stacey was formed in 2017, the year our daughter, Stacey Harmon, at the age of 40 learned she had Early Onset Alzheimer's Disease. Stacey lives in Lake Mary, Florida, with her husband, Keith Harmon and their two little boys, Sean (Age 9) and Jack (Age 6).
Stacey and her family are our inspiration for participating in the Alzheimer's Association's "Walk to End Alzheimer's" supporting their goal "to eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health."
We will also be walking and thinking of our beloved friend, Marilyn Lord, who passed away earlier this year from Early Onset Alzheimer's Disease at the age of 65. We are grateful for the donations to the Alzheimer's Association (Team Stacey) from Marilyn's friends and family members in her memory.
Just for signing up to join Team Stacey, you will be mailed a set of colorful flags to display in your yard or carry on your walk to show your commitment to the cause. For a $100 donation or people donating to your name, you will be mailed the Walk to End Alzheimer's t-shirt.
The Walk to End Alzheimer's will be a bit different this year because of Covid-19; there will not be a large in-person gathering, but "Walk Can Be Everywhere" every track, trail and sidewalk, wherever you are, and at your own pace.
Our East Bay Walk date is Saturday morning, October 24. There will be a online ceremony at 9:30 a.m. (PST) and the Walk will begin at 10 a.m. There will be a smartphone Walk to End Alzheimer's App for a virtual experience.
