This past year my family lost my Grandma Phyllis; after she'd fought this disease for 12 years. My family always talks about her smile and her stubborn personality; however I can only remember snippets of this since she had started to fade away when I was young. I do remember her taking care of me when my parents worked and going over to her house and eating hostess cupcakes and drawing in coloring books with her. She was the center of our family and without her to hold us together, that side of the family is completely disconnected. I walk and will always walk for her.
I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
