I am ready to walk again in the 2020 Walk To End Alzheimer's walk on Saturday, Sept, 26 2020 in Aptos Ca. This will be my 7th walk and I would love your support. It has been over 6 years since my dad died, although it was a very long goodbye. I am so thankful that my dad is no longer suffering yet I still miss him every day. I know I did everything I could for him, yet I still find myself wishing I could have done more. This is where you can help. I know I can do more by continuing to bring awareness to Alzheimer's by raising money to help fund the fight, educate and support those living with the disease. I am passionate about this!!! My mother in law Peggy Merrell passed away from Alzheimer's on Sept 13, 2014, and my sister in law Toni Colton r lost her battle with Early Unset Alzheimer's as well. This disease has affected me and my family profoundly. I want to help you, your family, your friends and anyone else I can by participating in this fight! Please help me by donating to my walk team: Cure B Found . I would love to have you join my team and walk with me as well. I have had the privilege of seeing the impact that the Alzheimer's Association has been able to provide to countless families. The Alzheimer's Association provides 24 hr support with a fully staffed help line, numerous local support groups, help with creating care plans, a full library on line and in our local Santa Cruz office. Navigating Alzheimer's and other forms of Dementia's is a grueling and painful experience I know firsthand. I am committed to helping to raise awareness and funds that will help provide these services as well as education and the funding of research .
As we all know, we have one life and at any moment things can change, being a part of this event and working with so many dedicated volunteers and advocates helps me feel that my voice and involvement is helping.
I am honored to be one of the many volunteers that put on this fantastic event every year. One of my goals this year is to increase our Walk participation, reach more local businesses and ultimately raise more money. We always need more volunteers and any amount of help is much appreciated. It is so important to bring awareness to this disease as it affects everyone, elders, parents, children, employers, and our friends.
As I have said before, I am walking for my Dad, I am walking for my son Jackson Merrell, and I am walking for you. This is a disease that can affect anyone and any family.
