In 2014, my grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. In the years since, it's been an emotional roller coaster. My mom, dad, and I have moved back in with her to help take better care of her. She recently lost her drivers license, which has been a pretty big loss for her as she feels like she's essentially lost her freedom.
Unfortunately, my grandma isn't the only one with this terrible disease. One of my uncles has it, with another showing signs of it. Back in 2017,we lost my Uncle John to Alzheimer's.
I walk to honor her and my uncles and bring awareness to this awful disease. I walk to raise funds for more research to be done and for there to eventually be a cure. Together, we can bring an end to this awful thing and end the suffering for, not only my grandma and my uncles, but for generations to come.
Thank you for helping us advance Alzheimer's support, care and research!
