My dad had Dementia for about 5 years. He was such a strong man who was a Staff Sargeant in the Army, vibrant community involvement, member of the American Legion and married for over 50 years. It was very hard to understand what he was going through, having to adapt coping skills and patience and seeing him lose weight and diminished capacity. At the time, we knew little about the disease and now realizing how hard it must have been for him and my mom day in and day out. The fact that it is one out of four in Stanislaus County makes it very scary. Now is the time to continue research to wipe out this horrible disease.
I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
