Sadly, this year will be my first year walking, not in honor, but in memory of my beloved mother, Lucille McGrath as well as in memory of my grandmother, Lucille McCubbin.
Mom lost her long running battle with Alzheimer's Disease on March 24, 2020. She was diagnosed in 1997 at the young age of 60. Although this disease ravished most of her memory & cognitive abilities; mom remained a trooper, enjoying her gospel music, group activities, and people visiting with her until her final days.
I'm helping in leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
