Please join us and our Purple Canoe Club Family and Friends in the Walk to End Alzheimer's on Sunday, September 16th, at the Summerfest Grounds on Milwaukee's Lake Front.
Patti was diagnosed with MCI ( Mild Cognitive Impairment) in 2011. At first it seemed like something we could work with and around...that was wishful thinking and short-sighted. Patti's cognitive and interactive skills have gradually declined and while her sweet nature is " Still Patti", it occurred to me that I needed to learn more and think longer term.
I was connected to the Alzheimer's Association in Southeastern Wisconsin and we began attending community outreach programs such as Memory Cafe's, SPARK, R&R Club and support meetings for CarePartner issues. Those led us to the Purple Canoe Club, a social group of loving CarePartners that provide love, support, information, hope, companionship and a few good needed laughs.....but we are not alone !
Altzheimers is a life-changing disease. The person, the carepartner(s), family, friends, the community, we are ALL affected. Patti and I are blessed to have the continued love and support on this journey. It means alot...this effort to raise the awareness, to advocate and fund more research to end this awful disease..
We can and will get there.....TOGETHER !
Thank You and Love to all....
Tony and Patti Cutraro
