I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Watching my mom battle through this disease has been one of the hardest challenges of my adult life. When she was first diagnosed, I struggled with the idea that treatment was solely focused on slowing the inevitable progression rather than a cure. My family has learned over the last several years that the best thing we can do is take it one step at a time, day by day. While it doesn't get any easier, we are learning to look for the silver lining and count on the support of friends, family and our community to keep my mom as comfortable and happy as we can.
I would be forever grateful for any donation you can make to advance the care, support, and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association so we can find a cure for this devastating disease.
