The beginning of “My Story” with Alzheimer’s is about my grandmother Mary Elizabeth Harris Mulry, an Artist, born and raised in Greenwich Village, NYC. Mary drew patterns for Butterick and topographical maps for the Department of the Interior during WWII. She met the love of her life James Mulry, my Grandfather, while in a church play; theirs was a love story for the ages. Mary developed Alzheimer’s disease and it devastated our lives. My Grandfather and my Mom Barbara along with my Uncles and Aunts were her caregivers.
My siblings and I am now, like my Mom, are caregivers for our Mom. Barbara was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and I want us to be the LAST caregivers.
