What a difference one year can make for someone, especially someone with Alzheimers. Last year at this time, my family was preparing for the worst event in our lives... relocating my mother to her new forever home at a Senior/Memory Care Facility. Living far away and needing to feel like I am contributing somehow with dad or mom or the disease, I decided to form an ALZ Walk Team last year in honor of Jan Assiter! An amazing group of people came alongside me last October and raised money and walked and showed their love and support - not only for my mother, but my dad, and all those that my team knew that were also touched by and/or dealing with Alzheimers. Our team raised over $1500 and I ranked Top 5 for monies collected and #1 with the most monies raised by an out-of-town participant! I know we can do more this year. My mom's transition was difficult. Her health - declined. Here memory - fragmented & fleeting. The cure is out there and The Lubbock Forget-Me-Nots know it can be discovered in our lifetime!
