I was the primary caregiver for my mother in her long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease, We had some happy, crazy, and bittersweet moments. Eventually, Mom forgot all seven of her children, one by one. She never lost her big beautiful smile. My mother met my father during WWII. He predeceased her before Alzheimer's set in. One memory of mine was Mom standing beside the road on Hixson Pike waving an American flag. I had stopped to drop off some clothes at a Goodwill location and Mom got out of the car with me.
