Hi! My name is Rhonda and I'm walking in memory of my mother in law, Ruth Hall, as well as some other relatives that have died from this terrible disease. I'm also walking in HONOR of my sweet little mother, Lola Tanksley, who is battling with Alzheimer's right now. The picture you see above was taken 1 year ago when mom started experiencing more & more effects of Alzheimer's. That's when the falls began. Mom has fallen over 13 times within the past 13 months, breaking 5 bones now. Her motor skills have changed drastically, eating & sleeping patterns changed, everything about mom has changed tremendously. You see, one day an Alzheimer's person may be ok and the next, one thing can cause them to spiral to the next level. Watching my mom go from an energetic, friendly, confident person to a withdrawn, lethargic, scared childlike person is so heart wrenching. I want to help do my part in finding a cure for this awful, deadly disease so that someday my momma's suffering has not been in VAIN!
I'm also walking to help reclaim the future for millions. By participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®, I'm committed to raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s research, care and support.
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
I need your support to do my part! Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research into methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's. For the millions already affected by the disease, the Association offers care, education, support and resources in communities nationwide.
Thank you for joining the movement! The end of Alzheimer's disease starts with you.
Thank you for helping us advance Alzheimer's support, care and research!
